The Trainor Award |
|
2007 Recipient - Cynthia D. Rihm
The Duramed FUTURES Tour established the Trainor Award in 1999, in honor of the Tour’s founder and former president, Eloise Trainor, who retired on June 23, 1999. In the spirit of Trainor, who operated the FUTURES Golf Tour for 20 years, the annual award is presented to an individual or group that has made a significant contribution to women’s golf.
Receiving the 2007 Trainor Award is Cynthia D. Rihm, a native of St. Paul, Minn., who now lives in Lakeland, Fla. Rihm spent 17 years working with the Tour, most recently as the vice president of corporate operations. She worked as a tournament official and oversaw tournament operations before directing the daily operations of Tour headquarters. Prior to coming to the Tour, she worked as the director of development and fundraising for women’s athletics at the University of Minnesota.

| The Heather Wilbur Spirit Award |
|
2007 Recipient - Jenny Hansen
The former FUTURES Golf Tour established a player award in October 2003 in honor of four-year FUTURES Tour member Heather Wilbur of Moncton, New Brunswick. The Canadian professional lost an 11-month battle to Acute Myelogenic Leukemia (AML) at the age of 27. She joined the FUTURES Tour in 2000.
The Heather Wilbur Spirit Award is presented to a Duramed FUTURES Tour player who best exemplifies dedication, courage, perseverance, love of the game and spirit toward achieving goals as a professional golfer. Wilbur was named as the first recipient of the award in October 2003, prior to her death.
Duramed FUTURES Tour players nominate the recipient of the annual award. In 2007, Jenny Hansen of Cairo, Neb., became the fifth recipient of the Heather Wilbur Spirit Award. Hansen, who joined the Tour in 2007, lost her husband in 2006 while he was serving a tour of duty as a soldier in Iraq. A former college player, Hansen had discussed with her husband the possibility of trying to play professional golf. She joined the Tour after receiving a late-arriving letter in the mail from her husband following his death encouraging her to “go for her dreams.”
